Thoughts from YOUR

Director of Missions

May and Mother’s Day, the Baptist Children’s Homes offering and Stone Association emphasis with the John Brown Missions offering are upon us. Then we also have the usual gearing up for summer activities such as Sports Camps, VBS, and hopefully a vacation or two. Looked at from one standpoint it can seem a whole lot to get done all at once. So pick and choose and plan to do what you can without guilt. If a vacation is possible—have at it! Life is too short not to occasionally take time to reload. By the way, encourage your pastor and his family to take some time off to relax. Summers are good for that. The year really gets going in the fall. Additionally, in July the materials for the Bible Drills and Youth Speakers Tournaments will be available. (These can be downloaded on-line from the TBC website.) Think about working in these areas in your church.
The More Life Rally was a positive event in the life of our Association. We do need to share the good news with any and everybody we meet. It is now time to continue the GPS emphasis. This year the plan is to do things in the community outside the church walls. We might use such things as block parties, or working in the community as a visible expression of our caring about our neighbors. I suspect you can figure out many more ways to make an impact where you worship and where you live. The world needs the gospel. The nation needs the gospel. Tennessee needs the gospel. Our association needs to be sharing the gospel with those right where we live. Together I truly believe we can make a difference. Would it not be wonderful to see a great revival start right here where we live? Let’s do what we need to do to see our world changed for Christ’s sake.
Let’s pray for our association, our mission trips and each other as we touch lives at home and around the world. Be careful to watch out for Satan’s efforts at dividing us. He would like for us to stop working together. Also, note the article on the front page in this issue on the John Brown Associational Missions Offering.

As I am able to visit the churches in our Association, I find that God is very busy helping us to be salt and light to those about us. If I can be of assistance at our office, please do not hesitate to let me know. One last comment: Since Mother’s Day will possibly occur before you get the May Stone Tablet, Happy Mother’s Day to the mothers in our Association. Mothers are important and make a world of difference. Godly mothers make an eternal difference.
